Let’s intercede for the President and First Lady who are now in quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19. Ever since he made the announcement on his Twitter feed, many have taken to social media to share their prayers for President Trump and his wife, Melania. This is an appropriate reaction especially since he falls into a high-risk category.
Politics aside, when the leaders of a nation test positive for a disease that has claimed the lives of over one million people, that is cause for prayer.
It has been a difficult week for Donald J Trump, the political candidate, with the latest tax evasion claims and he has drawn much criticism for the first presidential update in the upcoming election.
However, he is also a husband, father and grandfather and this is a huge cause concern for his whole family. It is also a huge concern for both the USA and the nations, given his status as a global leader.
Though there will be no let up in the ongoing political debate so close to the 2020 Election, it’s important to take a moment to pray for the President and First Lady and their family. Stand in the gap that God would deliver them from Covid-19 and that they would both experience a full recovery in the shortest possible time.
Social media has been swamped with messages, including this message from Franklin Graham who held a Prayer March in Washington DC last weekend. Many are using the hashtag #PrayForTrump
President Trump is not the first world leader to have contracted the virus. The UK knows all too well the serious challenges it brought to Prime Minister Boris Johnson who had to be admitted to intensive care at one point. So we need to take this seriously and trust God to bring the president and first lady through.
Our Prayer for the President and First Lady
Father we bring Donald and Melania Trump to you in the Mighty Name of Jesus. We choose to trust in You for you are unchangeable. Your power is not diminished by any virus least of all Covid 19.
We confess your promises over the President and First Lady. You are the Lord our Healer and may they be completely healed by the stripes of Jesus. We speak Psalm 91 over them, that you will protect them from all harm.
You raise up leaders for an appointed time. We pray that President Trump will be able to finish strong and fulfill all you have called Him to do. In Jesus Name, Amen.
Sickness is a debilitating, humbling experience, that makes us more reliant on God than ever before. May this be the President’s experience and may this major health challenge help him and Melania to trust in God more deeply and pray more. May God turn this situation around for good.
