“What the enemy has meant for evil, God will turn for good.” This is our confident hope in the wake of the tragic news of the assassination of Charlie Kirk. In this article we honor the legacy of a great hero of the faith who stood fearlessly for the Gospel and fought relentlessly for righteousness and truth.
On September 10, 2025, Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA and a bold proclaimer of Gospel truth and conservative values, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University. He was just 31 years old and in the prime of his life and ministry.
Our dear brother Charlie Kirk now joins the ranks of other great faith heroes like Dr Martin Luther King. Cut off in his prime, yet will continue to inspire many more generations to come. He will always be remembered for his bold witness and his love of Jesus and the truth.
What the enemy has meant for evil, God will turn for good. The organization Charlie founded is Turning Point USA. And that is exactly what his tragic death is going to be, a turning point in the lives of thousands of young people who are going to accept the call of God on their lives to rise up and be the next generation of truth tellers.
Our hearts go out to Charlie’s wife and their beautiful family. Our hearts break for them. But we are reassured. What God started with Charlie he will take forth to completion, igniting a new generation of Charlie Kirks across the nations.
What Happened
At approximately 12:10 p.m. MDT, during the opening moment of his “American Comeback Tour,” Charlie was addressing a campus audience when a single gunshot struck him in the neck. The shot came from a rooftop of the Losee Center, about 200 yards away. The scene became chaotic as attendees scattered; eyewitnesses he was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to his wounds that same day.
The nation mourns
President Donald Trump announced Charlie’s passing on Truth Social, calling him “great” and “legendary” and mourning the loss of one who had “the heart of the youth”. He also ordered American flags flown at half-staff until the following Sunday at 6 pm.
Bipartisan condemnation of the act echoed across the nation as political leaders decried this act of political violence and offered prayers for Kirk’s family. The FBI and ATF are actively investigating the shooting. Reuters
Charlie Kirk, a faithful witness silenced, yet unconquered
Charlie Kirk was a young father, husband, and a passionate advocate for conservative values. His life was an unashamed testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and his unwavering commitment to truth. We grieve the loss of a bold witness cut down in his prime. His life and mission end not at the bullet’s impact but in the legacy left behind – Turning Point USA, a generation emboldened to speak truth, renewed devotion to faith, love for country, and unwavering courage.
Fitting recognition
It was fitting that President Trump publicly announced Charlie’s death. We would not be surprised if Charlie received state recognition at his funeral and/ or posthumous medal of honour – a testament to his profound influence on a generation of young believers and truth-tellers.
Franklin Graham offered words that resonate deeply with us all: “What a tragedy… This young man loved his country… Most importantly, Charlie loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray for his wife Erika, their two young children, and all of their family… ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble’ (Psalm 46:1).”
Let us join in that prayer, and cling to the assurance that God’s work did not end in Orem, Utah. He will carry forward what He began in Charlie’s life. A new generation, inspired by his witness, will rise. Charlie’s mission is not ended but entrusted to us.
